I’m Melting

But not fast enough. I’m down 5 pounds from starting weight of 187 to 182. The target weight is 160 before Thanksgiving, maybe 155 if I am feeling spunky (my football, pre-college, pre-marriage weight). We’ll see!

ArtWalk 2006

The Artwalk event was actually last Saturday and I am just now writing about it. How’s THAT for timely news? Eat your heart out CNN.

My impressions from the art show that was spread out over 8 blocks in some of downtown Birmingham’s art galleries was very favorable. More about art, less about vendors. WonderWife and I strolled through the streets and into various, overheated galleries to admire mostly the photographer’s submissions. A lot of these photos were pre-framed and priced really high. More than a few were all about Birmingham people, neighborhoods and landmarks. Very tastefully down and very artistic. Black & White, sepia, Holga shots, even panoramic portraits detailing life in the Magic City.

All of his is very inspiring to me. If these people can do it, why not the Mojo? Check out some of my Birmingham pics and you tell me.

Wisdom from Solomon

Here are my thoughts from Ecclesiastes, one of my fave books of the Bible:

  • The stuff I accumulate on earth stays here. “I can’t take it with me–no, I have to leave it to whoever comes after me.”
  • There’s a time to cry and a time to laugh. I’d rather laugh.
  • “It’s better to have a partner than go it alone…and if one falls down, the other helps.”
  • “Two in a bed warm each other.”
  • When I participate in a service, God wants me to enter in and learn. It’s not just about mindlessly offering worship. He wants me to engage.
  • The less I speak, the better.
  • “Hard and honest work earns a good night’s sleep.” For you and your bed warming partner.
  • “Here’s what I’ve decided is the best way to live: Take care of yourself, have a good time, and make the most of whatever job you have for as long as God gives you life.”
  • “Anger boomerangs.”
  • “Don’t always be asking, ‘Where are the good old days?’ Wise people don’t ask questions like that.”
  • “Wisdom is better when it’s paired with money.” People with money are not our enemy.
  • God is doing some things on earth that I may never understand.
  • “Relish life with the spouse you love.” God designed us to be lovers and romantics.
  • “Wise thinking leads to right living.” This suggests I need to be thoughtful and disciplined about my life.
  • “Laughter and bread go together, and wine gives sparkle to life.” God created me to enjoy a meal and company with good friends.
  • “Don’t bad-mouth your leaders, not even under your breath… Little birds drop the crumbs of your gossip far and wide.”
  • I answer to God for everything I do with my life. My time is my greatest resource, and I need to invest it wisely.

Foiled Again

THIS is what happens when you are out of the office for 2 weeks. Ahh yes, working with all girls is a blessing and a curse. They love to decorate.

Eventful

OK, it has been and will be a very busy week. I’ve actually got the PhotoCamp wheels rolling.

I signed up for another digital photography class at Samford starting 9/13.

A trade magazine for promotional materials has asked if they can use a few of my photos for publication. Of course I said yes, who wouldn’t want to see their work in print?? Supposed to be released in October. Details as soon as I get it.

and I’m off to bed…discourage dthat I am the same weight (187) that I was yesterday. Pfftt.

There is another…

Yes, this is the 5th website/blog that I am using for my various interests.

Techno Mojo is for web technology and software. Photo Mojo is my photoblog. Go Mojo is my travel/outdoor website. I won’t advertise what the 4th is because that is for family only. This website here is all inclusive. Jokes, quotes, Scripture, news, personal thoughts, whatever. As the byline says: “Something/Anything/Nothing/Everything”.

So check back and check often!
