Go With The Photophlow

Being an avid Flickr user since way before they were bought by Yahoo, I’m a big fan of community. In fact, that is how I met a lot of my friends was through Flickr meetups here in Birmingham. This is also how I got to know my new city better. As anyone who contributes to the site knows, there are tons of third-party web applications that enhance the Flickr experience and Photophlow is a huge enhancement.

Photophlow has a great user interface that allows you to view photos of a desired topic and chat in real time with other photographers/users. There is usually a posted topic on top of the chat window but it is a generally open topic session.

From inside PP you can view pictures hosted on Flickr and fave it, add your comments, view EXIF data, or post to your Twitter account or tumblr blog. What, you don’t have a Twitter or Tumblr blog yet?

OK, so why do I like PP so much? Because this is exactly what the Flickr community should have had to begin with. As social as Flickr has always been with the groups, tagging, feedback, etc there hasn’t been an interactive feature like this that works. Imagine the possibilities of your Flickr group communicating in real time about the activities, meetups, contests and friendships that can take place within PPhlow! Speaking of rooms, as an individual, you can create your own room and make it as public or private as you want it.

If you are interested in joining this community, I have invitations for the first three people who can tell me what camera I use now in the comments. See, was that so difficult?
