This weekend is eventful. Not only will I be at Do Dah Day, but I have skybox tickets on the 18th hole at the Regions Charity Classic on the PGA Champions Tour. The event will be held at the esteemed Ross Bridge resort. Golfers playing this week include Tom Kite, Lee Travino, Fuzzy Zoeller. Celebrity players include Charles Barkley, Bobby Bowden, Bo Jackson, Drew Brees, Nick Saban & Steve Spurrier.
The Regions Charity Classic Foundation raise money from each year’s tournament activities benefiting various charities.
The benefiting 501(c)3 charities are selected from a wide variety of areas including education, arts, health and the humanities. In order to maximize the number of charitable organizations receiving funds, some recipients rotate from year to year. Preference is given to local and state organizations.
The 2006 Regions Charity Classic presented by Bruno’s Supermarkets, an official Champions Tour event, donated more than $680,000 to charitable organizations in Alabama. This year’s donation brings the tournament’s 15-year total contribution to charity to $9 million.
I will probably be shooting the grounds more than the event. They are absolutely gorgeous.
