“User Experience” is a user’s overall experience and satisfaction when using a product or system. It is a cross-disciplinary approach that includes Information Architecture, User-Centered Design, Usability, Accessibility, Findability, Web Design, Product Branding, and Product Management. Google, Yahoo!, and Apple are examples of companies that embrace User Experience. It results in an impressive array of benefits for e-commerce sites, informational websites, intranet sites, and web applications, including increased usage, increased revenue, increased user productivity, decreased support costs, decreased training costs, and fanatical customer loyalty.

This presentation will focus on three aspects of User Experience:

  • Information Architecture is the art and science of organizing, labeling, and creating structures for information and data so it is easy to find and use.
  • User-Centered Design is a design philosophy and a process in which the needs, wants, and limitations of the user are given extensive attention at each stage of the design process.
  • Usability is a quality attribute that assesses how easy user interfaces are to use. Usability also refers to methods for improving ease of use during the design process.
