I am in the process of creating a multi-cache for the Geocaching game. I’ve talked about how Hansel and Gretel first used breadcrumbs through the forest to find their way back home. The problem was that the birds would eat the breadcrumbs and the children became lost. Hansel then used pebbles instead and were able to find their way back eventually.

By combining multiple pebbles as way marking posts, geocachers will eventually find the final cache that will be a chest of painted rocks to keep, trade or leave behind (along with a record log and other goodies)

I love to hike and trail run but every now and then I’ll throw in some geocaching. It’s a modern day treasure hunt using a GPS device to discover hidden caches. These caches contain anything from trinkets to simple log books for you to document your find.

Geocaching will take you off the trails and on a scavenger hunt so it’s important to carry essentials to make it safe and fun.

Water Bottle

Hydrate! You could be out searching for hours so stay hydrated.

First Aid

Pack a lightweight kit with bandages, ointments, balms. All the above in case you get some cuts and scrapes. Don’t forget insect spray or sunscreen.

Multi-tool

Pocketknife, or a multi tool will come in handy. For all those “just-in-case” moments.

Did a little more urban exploration (Urbex) around Tulsa today. Using nothing but my mobile phone I found hidden treasure, hacked portals for the Resistance, hiked a trail or two, tracked it with a fitness app and documented it all with photos.

Whew!
