A cutting room is the area where film or videotape is edited. It could also apply to newspaper editing and layouts go before it is printed. This room is essential in the editorial process, allowing editors to review and decide which parts will be included in the final version.

For my purposes, it is a way to take the same words, sort into a different order and therefore adds new meaning. With over 2,200 articles over twenty six years, there is a lot of material. With the cuttings, I can make new articles out of the old ones. Don’t believe me? Have a look in the Cutting Room.

Inspired by my own crossword poetry and Kleon’s blackout poetry. This just takes it up a notch.

Another fun, friggin fact? I can save to .pdf and print the new creation directly from the room. Neat!
