Ubuntu Sunrise

I just installed a new opening sequence or “splash screen” to my Ubuntu machine. Instead of boring text I get this animated feature. Want it for yourself?

Go here to download the images and files

To install:

-Copy ubuntu-sunrise folder to /lib/plymouth/themes
-Copy the file splash into /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d (Optional, for better buffer)

– Type to terminal:

sudo update-alternatives –install /lib/plymouth/themes/default.plymouth default.plymouth /lib/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-sunrise/ubuntu-sunrise.plymouth 200

and then
sudo update-alternatives –config default.plymouth

– Choose the number to ‘ubuntu-sunrise’ in the options that pop up

sudo update-initramfs -u

Now you get a gorgeous sunset when you shut down and a sunrise when you start up.
