Switching To Linux Ubuntu

I am so close to switching over from Windows to Ubuntu Linux. I’ve tried to explore and play with Linux over the years but the latest release, version 10.04 (Lucid Lynx) is a game changer. It is more robust and user friendly than all the previous versions and is poised to go mainstream. Ubuntu Linux is a free, open source operating system. When I say “free” I do mean there is no charge but it is also free from just one corporation developing it. There are thousands of developers around the globe that are building this. Each one of them are adding their contributions to make this better. You can download Ubuntu here and try it out for yourself before actually installing it (how cool is that?) It is also important to note that this distribution comes loaded with free, open source software that you need and want. After installing, I’ve had zero setbacks to find hardware drivers, wifi, etc. It just works.

The main concern that is preventing me from completely switching now are my Adobe products. I’ve invested heavily into Photoshop and Lightroom and while there is an alternative (Gimp), it just doesn’t compare enough for me right now. Below are screenshots of my current system. Have questions about testing this out for yourself? Ask away in the comments section.
